Terms of Sale (TOS)

All sales are subject to the following terms and conditions. You must review, understand, and agree with these terms and conditions prior to making a purchase. Purchasing from Coastal Constrictors implies that you have read and agreed to our Terms of Sale. Please review all of the information carefully, and do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions or concerns regarding any of the terms or conditions.

Buying from Coastal Constrictors

At Coastal Constrictors we take pride in producing and offering exceptional investment-grade ball pythons. We not only take pride in the visual appeal of our animals but also in the fact that they are born and raised under ideal conditions, from both a husbandry and cleanliness standpoint. We are a smaller scale breeder and thus can dedicate our time to a select group of animals, giving them the expert care that they need. We prefer to produce quality over quantity. When purchasing an animal from us you can be assured that your animal will be accurately represented, thriving, and in great health.

Payment

We accept all major debit and credit cards through PayPal, Square, or in person/over the phone. We also accept checks, money orders, wire transfers (please contact us for account details), as well as cash.  No animals will be held unless payment or an agreed upon deposit has been received.  All orders must be paid in full before we will begin the shipping process.  All sales are final. We do not offer refunds or exchanges.  We reserve the right to decline any order/request for sale.  We do not sell animals to persons less than 18 years of age. If you are less than 18 years of age a parent or guardian must make the purchase for you.

Due to the ever-increasing threat of fraud, Coastal Constrictors reserves the right to require customers to sign a Purchase Agreement as well as provide a scanned copy of their driver’s license prior to shipping.  All documents provided to Coastal Constrictors will remain secure and will only be used for the purposes of validating a sale in the event that a credit card processor or other merchant raises issues with a transaction.  Coastal Constrictors also reserves the right to require payment via wire transfer, cashier’s check, or money order at its sole discretion.  

Deposits

We do not accept deposits.  In order to reserve an animal, you must either purchase the animal by paying in full or by initiating a payment plan, which requires a non-refundable down payment.  More information on our payment plans can be found below.

Payment Plans

Payment plans are generally only offered on purchases over $500.  You will know that a payment plan is available for a specific animal if you see a purple box that says “Payment Plan” near the button to add it to your cart.  A down payment of $150 or 25% of the purchase price (whichever is greater) is required to secure the animal.  This is a down payment, not a deposit, and is non-refundable.  

The animal(s) will be reserved for 24 hours.  If the down payment is not received within 24 hours, the animal(s) will be relisted for sale.  All balances are due within thirty (30) days of the date the down payment was received unless arrangements have been made otherwise and in writing. During that thirty (30) day period we will continue to house, feed, and care for your animal as if it were our own at no cost to you. The intent of offering a payment plan is to allow time for our customers to come up with the funds needed for larger purchases. This service is meant to be temporary as it requires time and effort on our end to continue to house, feed, and care for your animal.

That said, if the remaining balance is not paid in full within thirty (30) days a care fee of $10 per animal per week will be added to your balance. If the balance (including the care fee) is not paid in full within forty five (45) days the animal will be offered for sale.  Any payments made in addition to the down payment, less any applicable care fees, will be held and credited towards a future purchase; however, no monies will be refunded.  If the credit is not used within sixty (60) days of the termination of the payment plan it will be considered forfeited.

In the unlikely event that we are unable to provide you with the exact animal that you reserved, we will offer to replace the animal with an animal of equal or greater value at no additional cost to you or refund you in full.

The above guidelines also apply to down payments made to reserve hatchlings or animals that are not yet ready to be shipped.

To make sure that all buyers are fully aware of the terms of the payment plan, Coastal Constrictors may provide a Payment Plan Agreement to the buyer outlining all of the terms of the agreement. The agreement will be specific to that transaction and must be signed and returned prior to reserving your animal(s).

If you require more than 30 days to pay your balance in full or you would like to have your animals as soon as possible rather than waiting, we would suggest trying PayPal’s credit option which typically gives you 6 months with no interest to pay off your purchase.

Shipping

Shipping via FedEx Overnight Priority is included in orders totaling $500 or more (excludes larger animals).  For orders under $500, including shipping in the cost of the animal would make our prices appear much higher than others, since most breeders do not include shipping in the cost of their animals.  In this case, please contact us and we will provide you with an exact shipping rate.  We sell animals, not shipping, so you will pay exactly what we are charged by the shipper.  No more, no less.
I strongly urge anyone purchasing live reptiles to read this article written by Colin Weaver (click here). There are a lot of costs that go into shipping a reptile, many of which buyers may no be aware. The price that you pay for shipping likely covers just a fraction of the true costs associated with having an animal delivered to you.

We strongly suggest shipping to your local FedEx hub to be held for pickup as this is much easier and less stressful on the animals.  Packages are generally available for pickup around 8:30AM or whenever your local facility opens for business.  We drop all of our animals off at the airport in Norfolk, VA between 6:00PM and 7:00PM (usually) so their entire transit time is just over 12 hours if being shipped to your local FedEx hub.  

We ship Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays only to avoid the risk of a delay causing the package to be held over a weekend.  We will not ship on Thursdays or Fridays.  We will only ship when temperatures locally, at the hub, and at destination are between 40 degrees and 90 degrees Fahrenheit and when major storms are not in the forecast.  We also monitor FedEx’s service alerts to make sure there are no other issues affecting package delivery, and we reserve the right to delay shipping if we feel that it places the animal(s) safety in jeopardy.  

Prior to shipping we will contact you to arrange a delivery date. As stated above, we prefer and strongly suggest shipping to your local FedEx hub.  If you choose to have the shipment sent to your home or place of business (we DO NOT ship to FedEx locations that are not approved for handling live animals…i.e. FedEx Office, FedEx Print and Ship Centers, FedEx Kinkos, etc), please note that an adult will need to be present to sign for the package.  If an adult is not present or nobody answers the door when FedEx attempts delivery, FedEx will not leave the package and will instead put it back on the truck.  In the event that nobody is home to sign for the package or nobody answers the door, all live arrival guarantees will be void. 

Buyers are responsible for providing a valid, correct ship-to address; we do not have the ability to personally verify and validate addresses.  If the address that you provide contains errors, you will be responsible for any and all charges that the delivery provider may impose.  Delays caused by incorrect addresses will nullify any live arrival guarantees that Coastal Constrictors may have otherwise provided.  Also, if you contact FedEx to re-route the delivery, change the address, or make any other changes to the shipment any live arrival guarantees will be voided and any charges that are assessed will be your responsibility to pay.

Live Arrival Guarantee

We guarantee live arrival of your animal(s) with the following exceptions:

  • you are not present to sign for or accept the shipment when delivery is attempted; OR
  • the shipment is not picked up at the FedEx hub in a timely manner (within two (2) hours of being marked as available for pickup): OR
  • you initiate a change to the shipment (i.e. you request delivery to another address) directly with the shipper after a label has been printed

We do not guarantee live arrival if an adult was not home (or nobody answered the door) to sign for the package when FedEx attempted delivery. If the package is being sent to a FedEx hub, we do not provide a live arrival guarantee if the animal(s) are not picked up within two (2) hours after being marked as available for pickup.

All shipments must be opened and inspected immediately upon arrival. If there is an issue you must notify us within 2 hours of the package being marked as delivered/picked up. Photographic evidence of any problems will be required. Do not send an email/text without also calling us on the phone (our contact information is provided inside the package). Refunds or exchanges will be at the sole discretion of Coastal Constrictors.

Genetics

All animals produced by Coastal Constrictors are guaranteed to possess the genetics advertised and will come with a Genetics Guarantee form displaying the sire and dam.  We keep all of our records electronically and can provide assurance to future buyers down the road if you ever decide to sell your animal(s).

When adding multiple genes together, oftentimes it can be very difficult to identify offspring 100% correctly 100% of the time.  For this reason, animals may occasionally be listed as “possible” or “probable” for a given gene.  This is in no way a guarantee of genetics, but rather the consensus after consulting with others in the ball python community. 

Also, we will not advertise an animal that we did not produce as heterozygous for a specific trait unless we have bred the animal and produced visual, homozygous animals with that specific trait.

Gender Accuracy

All animals are guaranteed to be properly sexed.  Upon receiving your animal(s), we ask that you verify the sex and notify us within 24 hours if you believe there to be an issue.  If for any reason the animal that you purchased was incorrectly sexed and you notify us within 24 hours we will provide a one-time credit of 25% of the sales price (maximum credit is $500) or process a return.  After 24 hours it is assumed that you have positively verified the sex of your animal(s) to be as described.

Health

Unless otherwise stated and agreed upon in advance and in writing, we guarantee that all animals are healthy and feeding at the time of sale.  Any health concerns need to be brought to our attention within two (2) hours of receiving the animal. 

For several reasons, we cannot guarantee the health of an animal once it is under your care.  We will do our best to troubleshoot any issues that you might experience, but it is impossible to guarantee that any animal will eat, breed, etc. for you exactly as it did for us.  

Feeding

We guarantee that all animals are feeding regularly at the time of sale.  All hatchlings will have voluntarily fed a minimum of five (5) times prior to being offered for sale. For various reasons we are unable to guarantee that an animal will feed in a similar fashion under your care.

We produce our own feeders so we have strict control over the quality of the the food that we offer our snakes. We feed our snakes live only; we do not offer frozen thawed or freshly killed. All snakes, unless otherwise noted, are fed appropriately sized rats. 

Weights

It is impractical to keep real-time weights on a large collection of ball pythons, especially hatchlings that are growing on a daily basis.  We try our best to update weights on a monthly basis.  Weights listed on our website (which can be seen at the bottom of the product page under “Additional Information”) may not be real-time, so if the weight of an animal is important in your decision to buy an animal, please message us and we will provide you with a current weight.
